Pumpkin Patch
Wren, Alea and I went to Carmichael Farm in Bixby this last beautiful and breezy Saturday morning. There were lots of kids that we know from Parkview running around, climbing on piles of pumpkins, feeding the animals and taking pictures. We put Alea down and she immediately went over to a pile of giant pumpkins and starting patting them. She seemed to have a sense of freedom so we let her decide where she wanted to wander. She wandered past a grouping of mums (grabbing a few blooms on her way) and over to the petting area where lots of sheep and goats were waiting to be fed. She wasn't sure what to think of the goats. I think they scared her as they put their whole heads through the fence to beg for food. Alea didn't want to have anything to do with putting her hands near their mouths so she stood off to the side and watched. We also saw bison, a small bull and some pot bellied pigs and their little piglets. After a few more minutes of wandering we were all rounded up for a tractor ride around the farm. Alea plopped herself down next to a little girl who was several years older than her and kept patting the little girl on the arm and leaning in towards her face giving her big toothy grins. The little girl happily welcomed Alea's attention and enjoyed chatting with Alea as we circled. On the way out we looked at some bunnies, bantam chickens and their chicks, jack-a-lopes and guinea hens. Alea also chased a giant turkey that was roaming the property. With the way that turkey was dodging her, it made me think she wasn't the first child who thought they could catch him. We had a fun fall morning as a family.........have I said I love this time of year? I promised some pumpkin picking pictures.
