It's hot

Okay, this is getting crazy.  I don't remember last summer being this hot.  Or, maybe the apartment we were in for these few months had an AC unit that worked TOO well and we didn't notice how hot it really was.  It was 104 degrees outside today and our AC in this house isn't working properly.  It runs 24 hours a day.  The only time that it's tolerable in the house is first thing in the morning when the sun has been down for several hours.  THAT is when the AC can finally catch up.  It creates a problem with putting Alea down for bed.  It's just so darn hot in her room when she goes down that I have to put her in her lightest and shortest PJ's and turn her fan on high (that thing spins so fast, I worry about it flying off of her ceiling in the middle of the night).  When she wakes up in the morning, she's freezing.  We are in the process of possibly buying this rent house so the solution for the AC issue is a little tricky.  The timing is bad as far as who will be responsible for replacing the air conditioner.  Truth is, I don't think I can wait much longer to get a relief.  The pool, as I've mentioned before, has been great for cooling off but with 104 degree temperatures, even that isn't enough.  I have to say, however, that Alea doesn't show many signs of being uncomfortable.  Even when she naps and wakes up sweaty, she still grins from ear to ear when I open the door to get her.  She is just a happy little girl.  My mom invited us to her house tomorrow to escape the heat.  It'll be a good time to cool off and hang out with the family.  Speaking of hanging out with the family.  We won't have as many opportunities to do that as of August first when my sister, her husband and daughter are moving back to Shawnee.  Sarah has accepted a job at Oklahoma Baptist University as a dorm director and she and her family will be living on campus there.  Casey will also be teaching a couple of theology classes and will continue to work on his PhD.  Cora will be going to mothers day out for a couple of days a week and already has a new backpack to take her lunch and toys in.  We are all praying that this will be a smooth transitions for everyone and that Cora will enjoy making new friends and not have too much of a hard time adjusting to being away from her parents.  Also, for Sarah as she adjusts to not being home with her daughter full time.  It will be a positive change but it will be challenging for me too as Sarah won't be available as much for socializing.  She has been a great support for me this past year.  She won't be much further away than she is now but won't have as much free time.  I am happy that they are able to have this opportunity for Casey to really concentrate on his school work and that they will finally have their own place again.

Alea will be ONE year old on August 9th.  It's hard to believe that she is already turning 1.  So much has happened this past year.  It's gone by so fast and to see the amazing amount of development that happens in such a short period of time is astounding.  She's walking, saying a few little words here and there and is really showing us how tender hearted she is.  She's an energetic girl but she loves her family and it shows.  She gives us hugs and kisses, without being prompted, and cuddles and pats her stuffed animals while saying "awwww".  It has been an absolute joy to have this amazing experience, and it's only just begun............. : )
