Halloween update

Okay, as I promised, here is picture of Alea in her Halloween costume.  We dressed her as a ladybug and she was adorable.  First, we took Alea and Lily to trunk or treat at my parents church on Wednesday.  They were a hit as matching ladybugs.  On Thursday evening, Wren took Alea back up to his work for OSU's annual CarniFall.  We entered her in a photo contest to support United Way and some of the voting took place that evening.  One dollar got one vote toward your favorite photo so some of the ladies Wren works with were trying to figure out how much it would cost to get Alea the winning vote.  Not sure how it turned out yet.  We dressed Alea up one more time on Friday to go trick or treating with the preschoolers at the OSU daycare.  She sat in a wagon with several other children and rode around campus acquiring more candy than she will ever need.  Needless to say, most of it will probably be consumed by her parents (or thrown away since none of us really need it).  Friday night we stayed home and handed out candy.  It's amazing how bold the kids are with taking candy out of the bowl.  Wren thought he'd let the kids put their hands in for their own candy but after having a young lady practically scoop half of our supply into her bag, we decided that we should do the distributing.  We got a good laugh out of it.  Our friend Crystal came over and we had every intention of a Harry Potter marathon.  It didn't happen.  By the time we got Alea to bed, ate pizza (heavy meal) and sat down to watch we were already tired.  We made it through one movie and were ready to crash for the night.

Saturday we joined Crystal and her mom and dad at the lake.  It was a beautiful day to be by the water.  the temperatures were in the 80's and it was sunny and breezy.  We took a little ride on Jerry and Norma's pontoon boat and helped them set some jug lines.  We weren't able to stay long enough to collect the fish that afternoon but I heard that they caught some big cat fish.  Alea loved the water and loved being on the boat and she even sat on Norma's lap and helped her steer.  There are some pictures of our day at the lake in the November 2008 photos link as well as more pictures of Alea in her halloween costume.
Saturday night, Crystal joined us again at our house to watch another Harry Potter movie and to visit, via IChat, with our friends back in Massachusetts.  It was really good to talk to everyone and to see their faces.  Alea even waved at everyone and blew them all kisses.  It was cute to see her react to her own image moving around on the computer screen.
Hi to everyone back "home".  Hope to see you all in person very soon.
