GOOD NEWS, Payson is still improving. Natalie told me today that they are decreasing his given oxygen because he is breathing better on his own and they are increasing the amount of milk that he eats which means that he is much closer to going home with his mom, dad and big sister. Natalie seemed in good spirits today when we spoke and Payson's Doctor called her this morning with news of his possible release sometime this weekend. We thank God for the continued health of our little nephew and look forward to meeting him soon. Of course we'll take pictures and post them as soon as we can. Thank you all for your prayers.
Alea...
So, poor Alea is sick and for the past few days has been throwing up her food and has now refused to eat, probably because she knows what happens. The only time I can get her to take a bottle is when she wakes up in the middle of the night. Her Doctor told me to give her Pedialyte with a dropper during the day to keep her fluids up. It is exhausting taking care of a sick baby but not because of Alea being fussy or needy, but because of not knowing how to help her feel better. I have really missed her smiles these past couple of days. She has such a beautiful smile!
& other stuff...
On a lighter note, we visited Wren's parents this weekend and I got to burn stuff! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love fire, of course only when it's under control and not hurting anybody. This last winter Oklahoma had a severe ice storm that brought down lots of trees and branches, and like many people here, the Hawthornes were not spared the loss of some of their beautiful trees. Because they live "in the country" they are allowed to burn trash and brush. I'm sure this doesn't help the fight against global warming but it sure saves the backs of many Oklahoma waste management employees. All that to say, I had fun helping them clean up the debris, not to mention being outside and doing something with the grown ups while Alea played inside with her daddy.
We've also had some crazy weather already this spring. I'd forgotten how fast it changes and because of the unique location of our state (some call this tornado alley) many cold and warm fronts collide causing the severe storms you always hear about. Tornadoes, golf ball sized hail and rain so hard you can hardly see your hand in front of your face, all of which have already happened in the last month and the season has only just begun. Something about it, however, is really amazing to see. Again, as long as no one is getting hurt it is awesome to witness. This is Oklahoma...........and it's home.
